MALE TOUR TO MALTA - 1st May 2008 to 6th May 2008

Guys
Now that I have finished travelling for a few weeks I thought I would give you an update on tour. We now have 30 people on tour and at this time in the year that is fantastic achievement. Our record is 37 when we toured Malta in 2003 and with a little promotion we can beat that.

For those who have not booked leave yet we will be travelling at eight thirty in the evening of the 1st May so you won't be required to take any holiday that day but you will need to take the Friday (2nd) and Tuesday (6th) off. The Monday is a bank holiday.

In early January I will be looking to place orders for the jerseys. Due to recent innovations in shirt design we can practically have any pattern. As in previous years the pattern will be designed by you. I have listed some websites that have shirt designers. If you would like to submit a design please send a picture of your proposal, an internet link will not suffice. In the first week of January I will collate all the designs and publish a list of five to ten of the most suitable designs. Each tourist will then vote for their favourite three in order of preference. When designing the jersey please note that it will be of the short sleeve variety and that it should have only three colours, red white and black.

I also need more money. Each tourist needs to have paid a minimum of £170 by the 5th January. I have attached a list so everyone is aware of how much they have paid. The tour account details are below

Account no.: 71410326
Sort code: 400244

To keep you informed, tour costs more money than what you are being charged. It actually cost about £50 more per person than you are paying. This is made up by raffles, quizzes, sponsorship, England Rest of the World day, etc. I will be sending out an email shortly as how we can raise additional money to meet our costs. Every tourist will need to get involved in fund raising. Some, such as Rick Jacobs, have already organised several raffles. Over the Christmas period think about who you can approach for sponsorship as this is very important.

There are six confirmed reams in the tournament so far, two from Malta, Battersea Ironsides, UCS Old Boys, Wimbledon and ourselves. The format of the competition will not be known until just before we leave as number of tourists per team is also required.

Over the Christmas period the website will be updated to include all the latest information but if you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you have an alternative email address that you would prefer subsequent messages to please provide details

St Julian's is now an extension of Sliema although it started life as a small fishing port based on Spinola and Balluta Bays. Like Sliema, it is now a major residential and tourist centre, and home to some of Malta's newest hotels. St Julian's merges with Paceville, Malta's main nightlife centre where there are clubs, casinos and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Picturesque Spinola Bay is still used by fishermen whose traditional boats are housed just below the restaurants. The bay is particularly attractive at night and as a venue for open-air dining. The elegant Spinola Palace, built in 1658 by an Italian knight, Giovanni Spinola, is the landmark historic building on the bay. Another fine building with superb sea views is Villa Dragonara, now a casino, on the headland of St George's Bay.
