Millwall Albion RUFC was formed in 1995 by Mike Marques, Phil Antenbring, Perry Munton, Larry McCabe, Chris Underwood and others, whipped into shape by St Bill of Lancaster, after watching the World Cup rugby on the TV. From humble beginnings (borrowed shirts etc) the club has gone from strength to strength. There is a very successful first team (having gained 4 promotions in 6 seasons) and a second team (known as the Llamas) and a third team, all of which meet regularly during the season. The first team enjoys a good status in the Essex Division 2 league and the Llamas are in the Essex Merit Table (Division 4), while the Thirds are playing in the Merit Table (Division 5) having won Division 6 last season. We now also have women's rugby - the Millwall Venus girls - and a thriving Youth section catering for boys and girls from 8 years old. For a fuller

Millwall are mostly to be found at the Pier Tavern, Manchester Road, located 5 minutes walk from Island Gardens DLR station on the Isle of Dogs (near Canary Wharf) after training sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays (men) or Thursdays (women). After the games on the weekend, the teams meet up in the Ledger (Wetherspoon's pub) on West India Quay (often in the first room inside the entrance on your left). They play their home games at Victoria Park, Bow, (known as Fortress Vicky). Training is currently on Wednesday nights for the men's teams, Thursdays for the women, with join fitness sessions held on Mondays. All sessions are from 7:30-9:30pm at the Lower Paddock, Mudchute Farm, Isle of Dogs (conveniently close to The Pier Tavern!).
